The Problem We Solve

Not every duct problem is dirt. In many older South Florida homes, the ductwork itself is the issue: fiberglass duct board and lined ducts age over the years, and their interior surface gets rough and fibrous. Dust clings to that worn surface, odors linger in it, and even a thorough professional cleaning can only do so much with a surface that's breaking down.

Duct coating is the finishing step: after a full professional cleaning, we apply an antimicrobial coating to the interior surfaces of the ductwork. It seals the worn, fibrous surface under a smooth, durable layer — so the ducts you just had cleaned stay cleaner longer, and aging ductwork gets a second life instead of a replacement quote. We inspect your ducts first and quote the work in writing; if coating isn't right for your system, we'll tell you.

What's Included in a Duct Coating Visit

🧹 Full Duct Cleaning First

Coating is never applied over dirt. Every coating job starts with our complete duct cleaning, so the coating bonds to a clean surface.

🔍 Interior Duct Inspection

We inspect the duct interior and show you its condition — coating only makes sense on the right systems.

🛡️ Antimicrobial Coating Application

When Duct Coating Makes Sense

🏠 Older Fiberglass Ducts

Fiberglass duct board and lined ducts from past decades are the prime candidates — their interior surfaces wear rough with age.

🔁 Dust That Comes Back Fast

If dust returns soon after a cleaning, a worn, clingy duct surface may be the reason rather than the cleaning.

👃 Odors That Linger

Stale smells that survive a cleaning can live in a deteriorated duct surface; sealing that surface helps the cleaning last.

🧹 Right After a Full Cleaning

Coating is designed as the step immediately after cleaning — the moment the interior surface is at its cleanest.

🧱 Renovations & New Systems

Putting a new AC on old ducts? Coating the cleaned ductwork gives the whole system a fresh start.

🏢 Homes With a Duct History

Rental turnovers, long-vacant homes, and post-repair ductwork often benefit from a sealed, clean interior surface.

Duct Coating FAQs

What is duct coating?

An antimicrobial coating applied to the interior surfaces of your ductwork after a full professional cleaning. It seals the duct's inner surface under a smooth, protective layer — especially useful on older fiberglass duct board and lined ducts whose surfaces have worn rough over the years.

When does duct coating make sense?

Most often on older or fiberglass duct systems, right after a cleaning: when the interior surface is fibrous or deteriorated, when dust seems to come back quickly after cleanings, or when you're pairing a new AC system with existing ductwork and want the ducts sealed and clean inside.

Is duct coating a substitute for cleaning?

No — and we never apply it that way. Coating goes onto clean duct surfaces only, which is why every coating job starts with our full duct cleaning. Spraying coating over dirt would just seal the dirt in.

Is the coating safe?

We use coatings made specifically for the inside of HVAC ductwork, applied according to the manufacturer's directions, and the system is aired out before it's put back into normal use. If you'd like the product details before your visit, just ask — we're happy to share them.

Do you service my area?

We cover Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, seven days a week, 7 AM to 8 PM. Call (954) 687-9356 to book a free inspection.

How much does duct coating cost?

It depends on the size and condition of your duct system, so we inspect first and give you an exact price in writing before any work begins. If coating isn't right for your ducts, we'll tell you — no pressure. Call (954) 687-9356 to book a free inspection.

Can coating fix damaged or leaking ducts?

No. Coating seals and protects an intact interior surface — it doesn't repair collapsed, crushed, or disconnected ductwork, and it isn't a substitute for duct replacement when ducts have truly failed. Our inspection will tell you honestly which situation you have.

How long does duct coating take?

The coating itself is applied in the same visit, right after the cleaning, and needs time to cure as the manufacturer directs. We'll confirm the full timing when we inspect your system.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Fair Air Solutions is Florida-licensed (license CAC1824294) and insured, and family-owned and operated in South Florida.

Is the inspection really free — what does it include?

Yes. We inspect your ductwork — including a look inside — assess the interior surface condition, and give you one exact price in writing before any work begins, with no obligation. If coating isn't right for your ducts, we'll tell you honestly and explain the alternatives.

Do you service condos, townhomes, and rental properties?

Yes — we assess and coat ductwork in single-family homes, condos, townhomes, and rental properties across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, subject to the duct system's condition. Landlords and property managers get photo documentation of the duct interior before and after.

How long does duct coating last?

Duct coating is a long-term restoration, not a temporary fix — it's applied to protect and seal the duct's interior surface for years of service. How long it lasts depends on the duct system's condition and environment, which is why every coating job starts with an inspection of the surface it's going onto.

What should I do to prepare before the crew arrives?

Make sure the crew can reach each vent and the air handler, and let us know about any pets. Because coating follows a full duct cleaning in the same visit, plan for us to be there a good part of the day — we protect floors and furniture and keep you posted as we go.
